General instructions/safety instructions
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2005 Porsche 911, 2004 Porsche 911, 2003 Porsche 911, 2002 Porsche 911, and 2001 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The following points must be observed during vehicle diagnosis:
- When replacing the convertible top control unit, the coding must be performed correctly and the convertible top is to be recalibrated. (See REPLACE CONTROL MODULE .)
After troubleshooting or repairs:
- Delete fault memory with the Porsche System Tester II 9588,
- Completely open and close convertible top 3 times using the convertible top switch, remote control (not USA) or comfort opening/closing function,
- Carry out a test drive and completely open and close the convertible top 3 times,
- Read out fault memory again with the Porsche System Tester II 9588,
- Rectify entered faults if necessary,
- Reset warning lights (see RESET WARNING LIGHT ).
CAUTION:
Danger of damage due to improper handling of batteries and control module plug connections!
- Disconnect the battery connection terminals only when the engine is switched off!
- Start the engine only when the battery connection terminals are properly connected!
- Pull off or push on plug connections for the control units or other electronic components only when the ignition is switched off!
- Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery before welding work on the vehicle.
