Coding Tiptronic Control Unit
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Porsche Cayenne, 2009 Porsche Cayenne, and 2008 Porsche Cayenne. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Information
- When the transmission is changed/replaced, the adaptation values must be reset using PIWIS Tester II 9818.
- If a new control unit is installed, it must adapt first. Poor shifting quality can therefore be expected in the adaptation phase.
- After the test drive, let the engine run for 10 minutes at idle speed. This ensures that all adaptation values are stored in the control unit.
- The instructions provided on PIWIS Tester II 9818 have highest priority.
- The procedure described here has been structured generally, changes or additions may be displayed.
- The PIWIS Tester II 9818 instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy, these are the instructions that must be followed. Deviations can occur with later software versions.
- During coding, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for PIWIS Tester II 9818 . A battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A must be connected to the vehicle battery.
- PIWIS Tester II 9818 must be connected to the vehicle and ignition switched on.
- Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
- Press [F12] to switch from the vehicle type to the list of control units. Then perform an automatic control unit search.

- Select Control unit replacement with the cursor keys and press [F12].
- Select Read data (coding) with the cursor keys and press [F8] to start.
- The PIWIS Tester II 9818 screen displays the message Data was read out . Press [F12] to continue.
- Switch off ignition and replace Tiptronic control unit. → Removing Tiptronic Control Unit

- Following control unit replacement, the data that was read out (see Step 6) is loaded when you select the Write data menu. Press [F12] to continue.
- The System Tester displays the message Data has been written . Press [F12] to continue.
- Exit the menu, switch off ignition, lock vehicle and read out fault memory once more.
