Installing mounting unit (drive mechanism)

NOTE: The gate guide, cables and front and rear mount slides must not be greased.

MOUNTING UNIT (DRIVE MECHANISM) COMPONENTS INSTALLING PROCEDURE - TARGA

No.	Procedure	Instructions
1	Installing mount slide	Insert the front mount slide -8-9- . See Fig 1.
Note! During installation, the metal guide tubes must not be bent or distorted!
2	Installing metal guide tube	For easier assembly, first insert the metal guide tube -7-6- . See Fig 1.
3	Installing bracket	Position the bracket on the roof module and rivet to the roof module with the pop rivets -5- . See Fig 1.
4	Connecting the electrical plug connection of the sun blind motor drive	Connect electrical plug connection (blue) -4A-4B- . See Fig 1.
5	Preparing bracket of rear water drainage for installation	Apply glue to the bracket of the rear water drainage -3A- . See Fig 1. -X = 4 mm- - apply as a triangular bead. See Fig 1. -Y = 6 mm- - apply as a triangular bead. See Fig 1.
6	Installing rear water drainage bracket	Position the bracket of the rear water drainage -3A-3A-2-1-3- . See Fig 1.
	Installing frame for sliding roof cover	See Removing and installing frame for sliding roof cover - Targa .
	Installing roof module	See Preparing roof module and vehicle for installation .

	Installing rear window cover	Refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR WINDOW COVER - TARGA .
	Functional inspection	Connect the Porsche System Tester to the diagnostic socket. Switch on ignition.
		Select the menu item Targa roof, select the menu item drive links, open/close function or actuate rear lid function.
		Read out fault memory. If necessary, in case of a fault entry, proceed according to
		Refer to CONVERTIBLE TOP, HARDTOP - 911 CARRERA (996) .
	Checking position of rear mount	Refer to SETTING THE MICROSWITCH OF THE SLIDING ROOF > CLOSED < .
