Removing and installing selector support: Removal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2005 Porsche 911, 2004 Porsche 911, 2003 Porsche 911, 2002 Porsche 911, and 2001 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove selector knob (refer to Removing and installing selector knob  ).
  2. Remove centre console (refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING CENTRE CONSOLE (FRONT SECTION) ).
  3. Move selector lever to position "D".
  4. Disengage keylock cable:

    Open adjuster (3) by pressing the unlocking button (7). See Figure .

    Press the retaining clip (4) together and carefully pull the adjuster (3) upward out of the support bracket. See Figure .

    Disengage cable nipple (1) on the keylock lever (2). See Figure .

  5. Disengaging selector lever cable:

    Slide the locking sleeve of the adjuster forward and turn it clockwise to removal position (8). See Figure .

    Press the retaining clip (10) together and carefully pull the cable upward out of the support bracket. See Figure .

  6. Disconnect plug connection.

  7. Unscrew fastening nuts (11). See Figure .
