Converting Pins

  1. Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
  2. Release locking mechanism for the B+ line -A-  and pull B+ connection off the power distributor -B-  .

  3. Unscrew and remove the two fastening nuts -2-  .
  4. Unscrew and remove both plastic screws -1-  for the cover in the passenger footwell and remove cover by pulling it downwards.

  5. Pull the power distributor away from the firewall and lower it down into the passenger footwell.

  6. Break the green/red service label and open the power distributor.
  7. Unscrew and remove fastening nut -1-  and remove B+ line -2-  from the power distributor.

  8. Replace pins on the power distributor -1-  with screw bolts -2-  .

  9. Position B+ line on the power distributor and secure with a fastening nut.
  10. Close the power distributor until the lid engages securely and seal with the red service label.

  11. Check the plastic seal on the power distributor for damage; replace it if in doubt.
  12. Slide the power distributor upwards between the heater/air-conditioning unit and the bulkhead, and engage in the bulkhead.
  13. Secure the power distributor with the two fastening screws -2-  . → Tightening torque: 15 Nm (11 ft. lb.)

  14. Replace old B+ line for the battery -1-  with the new B+ line for the battery from the repair kit.
    1. 14.1. Loosen terminal clamp for the old B+ line -5-  from the battery.
    2. 14.2. Disconnect the line coming from the old B+ line (emergency power supply) -3-  at a suitable place.
    3. 14.3. Secure terminal clamp for the new B+ line to the battery.
    4. 14.4. Join the line coming from the new B+ line -3-  to the disconnected line using the crimp connector supplied in the repair kit -4 -  .
    5. 14.5. Push cable shoe of the B+ line for the battery -2-  as far as it will go onto the screw bolt on the power distributor and secure with a fastening nut.

  15. Fit cover in the passenger footwell and secure it with plastic screws.
