Work Steps For Blocked Or Seized Up Air-Conditioning Compressor

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2013 Porsche 911, 2012 Porsche 911, 2011 Porsche 911, 2010 Porsche 911, and 2009 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove desiccator → Removing Dryer (Fluid Tank)   .
  2. Check connections on both condensers, on the desiccator and at the refrigerant lines for the desiccator for signs of wear/chips.

    If there is wear/chips:

  3. Screw off and disconnect refrigerant line between the compressor and condenser at the connection points on the compressor and condenser. → Removing The Condenser-Condenser Line
    WARNING: Toxic substances
    • Danger of poisoning or suffocation
    • Danger of burns to the eyes and skin

→ Ventilate the work area well.

    → Never ingest or inhale.

→ Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.

→ Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.

  4. Rinse refrigerant line between the compressor and condenser using commercially available acetone for example. The acetone dissolves the refrigerant oil ND 8 in the air-conditioning line.

A suction and pressure syringe can be used to rinse out the refrigerant line.

    Suction and pressure syringe Nr.194

    1. 4.1. Let acetone dry off in the refrigerant line.
      WARNING: Working with compressed air
      • Risk of eye injuries
      • Risk of damaging and dirtying components

→ Wear protective goggles with side eye protection.

→ Protect the point at which the compressed air emerges with suitable material.

→ Place the point at which the compressed air emerges on suitable surfaces.

  5. Wrap bright fabric around the refrigerant line connection for the condenser and secure it on the line with a tie-wrap. Make sure that the compressed air can escape through the cloth. Any wear fragments must remain in the cloth.
  6. Blow out refrigerant line between the compressor and condenser using pure compressed air (no oil or water impurities permitted)  .
  7. Replace both condensers and the desiccator → WM 874219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONDENSER-CONDENSER LINE   ; → Removing Dryer (Fluid Tank)   .
  8. Re-install refrigerant line between the compressor and condenser at the compressor → Installing Compressor-Condenser Line   .
  9. Install new air-conditioning compressor → Installing Air-Conditioning Compressor   .

    If there is no wear/chips:

  10. Install new desiccator → Installing Dryer (Fluid Tank)   .
  11. Install new air-conditioning compressor → Installing Air-Conditioning Compressor   .
