Removing Outer Hinge Pillar

Possible separation points on the outer hinge pillar.
- The possible separation points on the outer hinge pillar can only be at the marked area -A- and -B-.
- If you are sure that there has been no deformation of the roof area structure, the upper separation point in area -C- can be used for the following repair work.
- Remove roof. → 510355 REPLACING ROOF - section on "Removing"
- Determine cut.
- 2.1. Position separation point -A- so that the spare part for the outer hinge pillar overlaps by approx. 40 mm. Mark the separation point.
- 2.2. Position separation point -B- so that the spare part for the outer hinge pillar overlaps by approx. 40 mm. Mark the separation point.
- Cut through the outer hinge pillar.
- 3.1. Cut through the hinge pillar in area -A- .
- 3.2. Cut through the outer hinge pillar in area -B- .
- Separate inert-gas welded seams.
- 4.1. Separate inert-gas welded seams in areas -A- and -B- .
- Mill off spotwelds.
- 5.1. Mill off spotwelds in areas -A, B- .
- Mill off and separate spotwelds.
- 6.1. Mill off spot welds in areas -A- and -B- .
- 6.2. Separate spotwelds in area -C- .
- Mill off spotwelds.
- 7.1. Mill off spot welds in area -A- from above.
- Unscrew fastening screws.
- 8.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- .
