Removing Oil Feed Line - Cylinder Bank 1-3

NOTE: Dirt and contamination
  • Risk of damage to units or components

→ Protect components from dirt and contamination.

→ Clean or replace dirty components.

Oil feed line, cylinder bank 1-3 

  1. Attachment to turbocharger 1-3
  2. Attachment to bracket for turbocharger 1-3
  3. Attachment to cylinder head 1-3
  1. Oil feed line, ATL 1-3
  2. External Torx screw M6 x 12
  3. Internal Torx screw, M6 x 10
  4. O-ring, 8.00 x 2.50 N
  5. O-ring, 12.00 x 2.50 N

  1. Remove intake manifold, cylinder bank 1-3.
    1. 1.1. Remove rubber grommet. Disconnect cable plug from electronic adjuster.
    2. 1.2. Unscrew two external M6 Torx screws -2-  from turbocharger.
    3. 1.3. Remove protective grille -1-  .

    4. 1.4. Detach intake manifold at connection piece and remove from bracket on engine.
    5. 1.5. Detach vacuum line -2-  from ambient air valve.

  2. Detach rubber-coated holding clamp -4-  for oil feed line -3-  from camshaft housing cover.
    1. 2.1. Unscrew M6 x 12 external Torx screw.

  3. Detach oil feed line -1-  from cylinder head 1-3.
    NOTE: Mixing fluids
    • Risk of damage to components

    → Close off all openings immediately after exposing them (with adhesive tape, suitable stoppers).

    1. 3.1. Unscrew M6 x 12 external Torx screw -2-  and detach line.

  4. Unscrew M6 x 12 external Torx screws -5 and 6-  from the coolant line bracket and lay lines aside.

    NOTE: Mixing fluids
    • Risk of damage to components

    → Close off all openings immediately after exposing them (with adhesive tape, suitable stoppers).

  5. Detach three lines at turbocharger and lay lines aside.

    Close off bores immediately after detaching a line  .

    1. Vent line to turbocharger oil tank
    2. Lower coolant line
    3. Upper coolant line

    1. 5.1. Detach vent line -1-  to turbocharger oil tank. Unscrew M6 x 10 internal Torx screw and detach line.
    2. 5.2. Detach lower coolant line -1-  . Unscrew M6 x 10 internal Torx screw -2-  and detach line.

    3. 5.3. Detach upper coolant line -1-  . Unscrew M6 x 10 internal Torx screw -2-  and detach line.

  6. Detach oil feed line -2-  from turbocharger.

    NOTE: Mixing fluids
    • Risk of damage to components

    → Close off all openings immediately after exposing them (with adhesive tape, suitable stoppers).

    1. 6.1. Unscrew M6 x 10 internal Torx screw -3-  and detach oil feed line.
  7. Guide out oil feed line.
  8. Replace O-rings on all lines and clean connections. 
  9. Make sure to check connection bores on turbocharger for dirt and clean carefully.
