Component Overview

  1. Disconnect plug connections -1-  and -2-  for the oxygen sensors in the engine compartment.

    → WM 2400AW PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES WHEN HANDLING OXYGEN SENSORS (ALL MODELS) .

  2. Unclip oxygen sensor cable.
  3. Loosen M10 fastening nuts -arrows-  on the two clamps.

  4. Loosen cheese head bolts (M8 x 50) -arrows-  on the restraining straps, but do not remove restraining straps.

  5. Move rear silencer towards cylinder 4-6 and spray connection points to the catalytic converters with anti-rust agent if necessary.
  6. Unscrew Torx screw (M6 x 12) securing heat shield to turbocharger oil tank.
  7. Unscrew M8 lock nuts -arrows-  .

    Information 

    • Make sure not to damage the oxygen sensors and cables when removing and installing the catalytic converter. 
  8. Lever catalytic converter and heat shield out of the vehicle.
