Preliminary Work For DME (DFI) Control Unit

If a BOSE subwoofer is installed, remove the subwoofer. → 91361900 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SUBWOOFER - section on "Removing".

Lift up and remove the carpet trim behind the back rest.

If a new DME control unit is to be installed, read out the vehicle data from the DME control unit and copy it to the new one.

  1. PIWIS Tester II 9818  must be connected to the vehicle before starting the System Tester. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
  3. Select DME/DFI  , Maintenance/repairs  .
  4. Select the Control unit replacement  menu and press [F12] to continue.
  5. Select Read data  (vehicle data) and press [F8] to start.
  6. The message Data was read out  appears on the Tester screen. Press [F12] to continue.
  7. Once the DME control unit has been replaced, the data that was read out is loaded in the Control unit replacement  menu when you press [F8] (Write data)  . Press [F12] to continue.
