Preliminary Work

Read out engine control module fault memory before getting started.

Relieve fuel pressure in the high-pressure system.
1. 2.1. To do this, pull out the fuse for the electric fuel pump in the fuse box (passenger compartment).
2. 2.2. Start the engine and leave it running until it cuts out.
Switch off ignition and all electrical loads.
Disconnect ground strap at the battery.
Remove intake-air distributor.

1. 5.1. Cover intake port openings with adhesive tape or a cloth.
