Preliminary Work

Read out engine control unit fault memory before getting started.
Relieve fuel pressure in the high-pressure system.
1. 2.1. To do this, remove the fuse for the electric fuel pump from the fuse box (passenger compartment).
2. 2.2. Start the engine and allow to run until it cuts out.
Switch off ignition and all consumers.
Disconnect the battery.
Remove resonance tube.

Remove intake-air distributor.

1. 6.1. Cover intake port openings with adhesive tape or a cloth.
