Draining Coolant

WARNING:
Caustic fluids
- Danger of chemical burns
→ Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Ensure that there is good ventilation.
→ If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.
Information
- Check O-rings on the plug-in couplings and replace them if necessary.
- Clean plug connection and coolant hoses before assembly.
- Coat O-rings and coolant hoses with Kluber Plus Gel (Part No. 000.043.205.93).
- Remove stoppers before fitting the coolant lines and hoses.
WARNING:
Hot fluid
- Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
- Open the cap on the reservoir -1- and remove it.
- Remove rear underbody panel.
- Place a suitable container under the vehicle to collect coolant at each of the drain outlets.
- 3.1. Secure the container on a transmission jack with a tension strap.
- Unscrew drain plugs on the two coolant pipes -arrow-
.
- 4.1. Re-fit the drain plugs with new sealing rings after draining.
→ Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ft. lb.)
- 4.1. Re-fit the drain plugs with new sealing rings after draining.
- Open supply and return hoses -2-
on the coolant pipes.
- 5.1. To do this, first remove the spring clamps -1- on the Henn couplings and then pull the hoses apart.
- Remove coolant hoses at the radiators.
- 6.1. To do this, first pull off the spring clamps and then the hoses.
- Clean coolant connections.
- 7.1. Re-fit the spring clamps after cleaning the connections.
