Installing Guide And Tensioning Rails

The tightening specifications for the basic engine are stored centrally.

Tightening torques and assembly instructions for other assemblies (e.g. chassis, electrics, transmission or body) or for peripheral engine equipment can be found in the corresponding documents.

  1. Fit deflector rail -4-  by fitting the fastening screws -5-  .

    Screw, M12 Tighten fully after setting timing. 
    Deflector rail
    Screw, M8 x 35
    Camshaft-to-camshaft guide pad
    Direction of travel
  2. Fit the guide rail -3-  . The small tensioning rail is locked on the guide rail with -6-  . Slide the guide rail onto the threaded peg and move it into the correct installation position with respect to the fitted oil pump drive chain. Pull the locking pin (the tensioning rail becomes attached).

  3. Slide the tensioning rail onto the threaded peg. -4-

  4. Fit top guide rails (guide pad) between the camshafts if you have not already done so -6-  .
