Information
For optimum assembly, turn the engine to "TDC" before disassembly.
Information
Seal open lines and hoses with suitable sealing plugs from the > VAS 6122 - motor sealing plug set.
Information
- The number of screws, fastening clips, plug connections, holders and lines may vary depending on the engine variant and equipment.
- The graphics for removal or installation are partly shown on a variant and may deviate from the actual situation.
- Naturally, some steps must always be carried out.
- Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle.
- Disconnect the battery.
- Drain engine oil.
- Drain coolant.
- Remove refrigerant by suction.
- Removing both air cleaner housings.
- Remove front bumper.
- Completely dismantle the lock support panel and bumper with all radiators.

- 7.1 Loosen -1-
screw and pull ATF lines -3-
off -4-

- 7.1.1 Collect leaking ATF and close lines with suitable plugs.
- 7.2 To do this, remove -4-
screws for the refrigerant line on the condenser -5-
. Disconnect refrigerant lines and close them off so that they are air-tight.
Replace O-rings during installation.

- 7.3 Disconnect the hydraulic lines to the power steering radiator in the area of the left-hand side member.

- 7.3.1 Loosen clamps -1- and pull off hoses -2- .
- 7.3.2 Collect leaking hydraulic oil and close hoses with suitable plugs.
- 7.4 Disconnect electric plug connections.
- 7.4.1 Unlock and disconnect electric plug connection -6- for the wiring harness on the left side.

- 7.5 Unlock and disconnect electric plug connection -8-
on the right side.

- 7.6 Disconnect the flap cable separating clutch from the longitudinal member at the top left.

- 7.7 Unscrew the screws -5-
to the side member.
Detaching bumper

Loosening lock support panel

- 7.9 Remove complete radiator assembly with the help of another person.
- 7.1 Loosen -1-
screw and pull ATF lines -3-
off -4-

- Remove the cover for the throttle body completely with both moulded hoses.

- Loosen three fastening screws -Arrows-
on the coolant pump belt pulley.

- Remove drive belt.
- Remove the coolant pump belt pulley.
- Remove both cylinder head covers.
- Turn engine to TDC of cylinder 1.
- Remove belt pulley.

- 14.1 Before removing the belt pulley, make sure that the stakeout hole of the belt pulley is aligned with the recess in the chain housing cover.
- 14.2 Remove belt pulley with friction plate.
- Fit > 9678/1 - staking tool on the camshafts of both cylinder banks and fit screws by hand.

- Remove joint flange for crankshaft sealing ring.

- 16.1 Replace sealing flange during installation.
- Remove turbocharger suction and pressure hose on cylinder bank 1.
- Remove generator.
- Remove chain tensioner.
- Remove oil pressure indicator with adapter.
