Information
- Get one or more people to help when installing/removing heavy or difficult- to-reach components.
- This will prevent or reduce the risk of possible damage.
- Install transfer gear.

- Install transmission cross member.
- 2.1
Fit cross member on the outside of the body using new M10 screws -A-
.
> Initial tightening 50 Nm (36.9 ftlb.) --
> final tightening 90 Degree --
2.2 Fit cross member on the transmission mount using new M10 screws -B- .
> Initial tightening 50 Nm (36.9 ftlb.) --
> final tightening 90 Degree --

Fit cross member on the outside of the body using new M10 screws -A-
.
- Move transmission jack out of the work area.
- Route wiring harness at the transfer gear with cable plugs, secure it and connect plug connections.
- 4.1 Push plug connection close to the transmission mount into the sheetmetal holder.
- Fit primary catalytic converters.

- 5.1 Fit new seal on the exhaust manifold and coat threaded bolts with high-temperature grease.
- 5.2 Position primary catalytic converter.
- 5.3
Fit oxygen sensor (thread coated with high-temperature grease) on the primary catalytic converter.
> Tightening torque 45 Nm +/- 5 Nm --
- 5.4 Guide wiring harness for oxygen sensor into the engine compartment from below.
- 5.5 Fit primary catalytic converter at the exhaust manifold flange with new lock nuts.
- 5.6 Position primary catalytic converter on the gear support and fit screw.
- Tighten new lock nuts on the primary catalytic converter -1-
.
> Tightening torque 23 (17 ftlb.) Nm --

- Tighten screw -1-
on each holder -2-
for the transmission.

- Install heat shield -2- at the universal joint.
- Install catalytic converters.

- 9.1 Coat threaded bolt lightly with high-temperature grease.
- 9.2 Fit catalytic converter with a new seal on the primary catalytic converter flange and secure with new lock nuts.
- Slide new clamp -3- onto the exhaust pipes. Threaded joint pointing downwards.
- Tighten screws -1-
for the catalytic converters at the holders -2-
for the transfer gear.
> Tightening torque 23 (17 ftlb.) Nm --
Catalytic converter holders
- Tighten lock nuts securing catalytic converter flange to primary catalytic converter.
> Tightening torque 23 (17 ftlb.) Nm --
- Fit front cardan shaft.
- Fit rear cardan shaft and remove tie-wraps.
- Install engine guard.
- Connect cable plug for oxygen sensor, route wiring harness for oxygen sensor and secure in the retaining clips in the engine compartment.
- Install engine compartment trim panel.

- Connect ground contact for the battery under the driver's seat.
- Check ATF fluid level and add ATF if necessary.
- If the automatic transmission was replaced, the adaptation values for transmission control must be reset using > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II.
