Subsequent Work

  1. Install oil guide housing and oil pan.

    > 175019 REMOVE AND INSTALL OIL PAN

  2. Fitting new joint flange behind the vibration damper.

    > Refer to the appropriate service information

  3. Check the timing.

    TDC position of camshafts

    1. 3.1 Turn the engine two turns clockwise to TDC of cylinder 1  and lock the belt pulley using > 9595/1 - locating pins.
    2. 3.2 Check the position of the camshafts -Arrows-  . The surfaces for the camshaft adjustment must be horizontal.
      1. 3.2.1 If the control chain is still in the same position as it was during removal, remove > 9595/1 - locating pins and continue with Step 4.
      2. 3.2.2 Only set the timing if the control chain has jumped. 

        > WM, 150516 TIMING FOR CAMSHAFTS 

  4. Final installation of vibration damper.

    > Refer to the appropriate service information.

  5. Install both cylinder head covers.

    > 158219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CYLINDER HEAD COVER 

  6. Mounting the drive belt. For details, see > 137819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DRIVE BELT
  7. Fit coolant hoses in front of the chain housing cover. Don't forget the holder. > Coolant return line on turbo, for example

    Connection piece on alternator
    Connection piece screw
    Screw, M6 x 20
    Coolant return line
    Coolant return hose assembly
    Bracket
    M6 screw Aluminium screw  ; always use new aluminum screws
    Clip
  8. Filling engine oil. For details, see > 170117 DRAINING AND FILLING ENGINE OIL (CHANGING ENGINE OIL)
  9. Attach the transmission flange.
  10. Install the engine.
