Control module replacement - PCM2

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2005 Porsche 911, 2004 Porsche 911, 2003 Porsche 911, 2002 Porsche 911, and 2001 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The PCM2 is supplied in production mode on in new vehicles and as a spare part. If production mode is coded out, the control module is operational again following a restart (vehicle must be locked and secured).

Each time the vehicle is started, the model range code that is stored is compared with the code in the instrument cluster. If no match is found, the device switches off after 30 seconds and the PROTECTED message appears in the display. The device is not operational.

If a match is found, the device is operational. No further checks are made while the device is connected to the vehicle electrical system.
