9603 Telephone/telematics: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING (9603 TELEPHONE/TELEMATICS)

1 Read out telephone fault memory
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the "FORWORD" key
  • Select PCM2 in the 911 (996) function selection and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Select Telephone/telematics in the 911 (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Select Fault memory in the 911 (996) telephone/telematics function selection and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Read out fault memory
  • Erase fault memory
  • Remove ignition key and switch on ignition again
  • Read out fault memory
 -> End Fault code is displayed
Step 2
2 Check wiring harness to the additional receiver
  • Switch off ignition
  • Pull off plug A on the telephone control module
  • Pull off plug A on the additional telephone receiver
  • Measure resistance between plug A on the telephone control module, pin 24 and pin 1 on the plug on the additional telephone receiver

Step 3		 Repair wiring harness

3 Check wiring harness to the additional receiver
  • Measure resistance between plug A on the telephone control module, pin 25, and pin 2 on the plug on the additional telephone receiver
 < 0.5
Step 4		 Repair wiring harness
-> End
4 Check wiring harness to the additional receiver
  • Measure resistance between plug A on the telephone control module, pin 8, and pin 3 on the plug on the additional telephone receiver
 < 0.5
Step 5		 Repair wiring harness
-> End
5 Check wiring harness to the additional receiver
  • Measure resistance between plug A on the telephone control module, pin 20, and pin 4 on the plug on the additional telephone receiver
 < 0.5
Step 6		 Repair wiring harness
-> End
6 Check wiring harness to the additional receiver
  • Measure resistance between plug A on the telephone control module, pin 22 and pin 5 on the plug on the additional telephone receiver
 < 0.5
Step 7		 Repair wiring harness
-> End
7 Check wiring harness to the additional receiver
  • Measure resistance between plug A on the telephone control module, pin 26, and pin 6 on the plug on the additional telephone receiver
 < 0.5
Step 8		 Repair wiring harness

8 Check wiring harness to the additional receiver
  • Measure resistance between plug A on the telephone control module, pin 24, and ground
 Step 9 Repair short circuit to ground in the wiring harness

  • Measure resistance between plug A on the telephone control module, pin 25, and ground
 Step 10 Repair short circuit to ground in the wiring harness

  • Measure resistance between plug A, pin 8, on the telephone control module and ground

  • Measure resistance between plug A, pin 20, on the telephone control module and ground
 Step 12 Repair short circuit to ground in the wiring harness

  • Measure resistance between plug A, pin 22, on the telephone control module and ground
 Step 13 Repair short circuit to ground in the wiring harness

  • Measure resistance between plug A, pin 26, on the telephone control module and ground
 Step 14 Repair short circuit to ground in the wiring harness

14 Check wiring harness to the additional receiver
  • Measure resistance between plug A, pin 3, on the telephone control module and ground
 Step 15 Repair short circuit to ground in the wiring harness

15 Check wiring harness to the additional receiver
  • Measure voltage between plug A, pin 24, on the telephone control module and ground
  • Switch ignition on.

Step 16		 Repair short circuit to B+ in the wiring harness

  • Measure voltage between plug A, pin 25, on the telephone control module and ground
  • Switch ignition on.

Step 17		 Repair short circuit to B+ in the wiring harness

  • Measure voltage between plug A, pin 8, on the telephone control module and ground
  • Switch ignition on.
