8020 Navigation: Diagnosis/Troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING (8020 NAVIGATION)

1	Antenna wiring to the GPS antenna	Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition. Select 911 (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the "FORWORD" key. Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the "FORWORD" key. Select Navigation in the 911 (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the "FORWORD" key. Select Fault memory in the 911 (996) Navigation function selection and confirm with the "FORWORD" key. Read out fault memory. Erase fault memory. Remove ignition key and switch on ignition again. Read out fault memory. Extract ambient data, press the "FORWORD" key	-> End	Fault code is still displayed Step 2
2	Check antenna wiring to the GPS antenna	Switch off ignition. Pull off antenna on the navigation module. Check resistance on plug I to ground.	Step 3	Short circuit to ground. Repair wiring harness -> End
3	Check antenna wiring to the GPS antenna	Switch ignition on. Measure voltage on plug I to ground.	< 1 V Step 4	Short circuit to B+. Repair wiring harness -> End
4	Replace GPS antenna		-> End	Step 5
