Diagnosis/troubleshooting - BOSE

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING (8004 EXTERNAL BOSE AMPLIFIER)

1 Read out external amplifier fault memory
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Select External BOSE amplifier in the 911 (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the "FORWORD" key
  • Select Fault memory in the 911 (996) external BOSE amplifier function selection and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Read out fault memory.
  • Erase fault memory.
  • Remove ignition key and switch on ignition again.
  • Read out fault memory.
  • Extract ambient data, press the "FORWORD" key.
-> End Fault code is still displayed
Step 2
2 Check wiring harness and front right loudspeaker
  • Switch off ignition.
  • Pull off plug A on the amplifier.
  • Measure resistance on plug A, pins 29 and 24.

Open circuit in the wire/short circuit to ground. Repair wiring harness

3 Check the rear left and right wiring harness and loudspeakers
  • Switch off ignition.
  • Pull off plug A on the amplifier.
  • Check resistance on plug A, pins 23 and 28.

4 Check wiring harness for front right loudspeaker
  • Pull off plug on the loudspeaker.
  • Check the resistance in the wire between pin 26 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 2 of the plug for the front right door speaker.

Repair wiring harness

5 Check wiring harness for front right loudspeaker
  • Pull off plug on the loudspeaker.
  • Check the resistance in the wire between pin 31 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 1 of the plug for the front right door loudspeaker.

Step 8
Repair wiring harness.
-> End
6 Check the rear left and right loudspeaker wire
  • Check the resistance in the wire between pin 23 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 3 of the plug for the rear left and right loudspeaker.
< 0.5
Step 7
Open circuit in the wire/short circuit to ground. Repair wiring harness

7 Check the rear left and right loudspeaker wire
  • Check the resistance in the wire between pin 28 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 4 of the plug for the rear left and rear right loudspeaker.
< 0.5
Step 9
Open circuit in the wire/short circuit to ground. Repair wiring harness

8 Replace front right loudspeaker -> End Step 10
9 Replace the rear left and right loudspeakers -> End Step 10
10 Replace amplifier -> End
