Preliminary Work

Information 

• The vacuum system must be leak-tested before replacing the crankshaft sealing ring. 

1. Check the vacuum system for leaks.

   → 248302 LEAK-TESTING THE VACUUM SYSTEM .

   1. 1.1. Once you are sure there are no leaks, carry out repairs as described.
2. Remove transmission.

   → 343519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION .

   Information 

   Loosen and tighten screws on the component according to specifications.

3. Remove pressure plate with clutch plate.

   → 305019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CLUTCH .

   1. 3.1. Unscrew nine M8 cheese head bolts crosswise and in several stages. Remove pressure plate with the drive plate.
   NOTE: Removing and installing flywheel

   • Leaks
   • Risk of damage to the flywheel and adjacent components

   → Be very careful during removal and installation.

   → Get another person to help because of the weight.

4. Remove flywheel (two versions possible: single or dual-mass flywheel).

   → 136019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FLYWHEEL .

   → 136019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SINGLE-MASS FLYWHEEL .

   1. 4.1. Toothed segment p201 b  must be positioned on the stud to counter it, then loosen the nine M10 cheese head bolts. Unscrew bolts and remove flywheel.
