Preliminary Work

Information 

When raising the vehicle, take care to maintain access to the screws for the diagonal struts in the vicinity of the rear jacking points.

→ Do not place any solid objects under the raised vehicle.

→ Ensure that the lifting platform is prevented from lowering.

→ Remove solid objects before lowering the vehicle.

→ Raise the vehicle only at the jacking points provided.

→ The outer jacking points should be used primarily.

1. Raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points.

   → LIFTING THE VEHICLE .

2. Read out the fault memory using the PIWIS Tester  .

   → 033500 ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS (OBD) .

3. Fit protective covers on the body to prevent damage.
4. Disconnect the battery and cover the terminals or battery.

   → WM 2X00IN WORK INSTRUCTIONS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY .

5. Remove both rear wheels. Use the specified special tool socket-wrench insert to avoid damage to the wheel rims → WM 440519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL .
6. Remove rear apron → WM 534855 REPLACING REAR SIDE MEMBER .
7. Remove side retaining frames (heat protection) at the left and right → WM 635019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR BUMPER .
8. Loosen support for rear apron on the body -2- . Turn the support towards the brake disc.

9. Remove cover for rear and centre underbody

   → 519419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER FOR REAR UNDERBODY .

   → 519319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER FOR CENTRE UNDERBODY .
