Installing (Main) Catalytic Converter

Information 

  1. Replace seals. Slide new metal seal and new exhaust clamps onto the exhaust system.
  2. Install main catalytic converters.
    1. 2.1. Move the main catalytic converters into installation position and fit the screws in the holder on the body.
    2. 2.2. Fit main catalytic converters -4-  on the primary catalytic converters. Use new screws.

  3. Move new exhaust clamps for the exhaust system into installation position and fit them. The threaded joint must be facing downwards. Adjust to maximum transverse inclination and ensure the assembly length is the same on both exhaust pipes.

    1. Gap of approx. 5 mm between the exhaust pipes
    2. Exhaust clamp length = 95 mm
    3. Maximum transverse inclination → Adjustment value: 10° 
  4. Install and tighten transmission support. For details, see → Installing Transmission
  5. Fit holder for catalytic converter on transmission support.
  6. Tighten all screws to the correct torque. Main catalytic converter to primary catalytic converter → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft lbs.);  exhaust clamp → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft lbs.);  main catalytic converter to transmission support → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft lbs.);  main catalytic converter to body → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft lbs.)
