Component And Assembly Overview (With And Without Pasm)

There are two different types of suspension: standard running gear and PASM chassis.

The Boxster S and Cayman S come with the PASM chassis as standard.

-1-	Lock nut M14 x 1.5	1	Before loosening the lock nut -1- , tension the coil spring -9- using the spring clamp for spring struts Nr.121 until the piston rod is relieved. Use the relevant special tools (listed under the Disassembly section).	Use a new lock nut. Tightening torque: 80 Nm (59 ftlb.). Position the spring strut mount -3- with respect to the vibration damper -10- before tightening the lock nut. Then, (on PASM spring struts only) align the stop plate -2- with respect to the spring strut mount -3- . Description can be found in the Assembly section.
-2-	Stop plate (two versions). PASM version: With two grooves (two cut-outs), for countering when loosening and tightening lock nut -1- .	1		Fit dome upwards, towards lock nut. On PASM spring struts, align (position) the stop plate with respect to the spring strut mount -3- - described in the Assembly section.
-3-	Spring strut mount	1		Position with respect to the vibration damper (described in the Assembly section).
-4-	Support ring	1		Mount in correct position.
-5-	Spring plate (compensating plate)	1		Observe allocation according to the coil spring tolerance range.
-6-	Stop plate	1		Fit dome downwards.
-7-	Additional spring (rubber stop)	1		Replace if damaged.
-8-	Bellows	1		Replace if damaged. Fit to additional spring -7- .
-9-	Coil spring	1		Observe allocation as per Spare Parts Information. Replace coil springs only in pairs. Use spring plate (compensating plate) -5- according to the markings on the spring (see section describing ALLOCATION OF COIL SPRING/COMPENSATING PLATE ).
-10-	Vibration damper	1	Do not damage connecting cable (electric line) on the PASM version.	Observe allocation as per Spare Parts Information. The item number is shown on the damper tube.
