Installing side airbag unit: Installation

  1. Check sensor for the side airbag unit for damage and, if necessary (e.g. after the third time the side airbag is triggered), replace it. See REMOVING AND INSTALLING SENSOR FOR SIDE AIRBAG  .
  2. Check the covering film behind the side airbag unit for damage. It protects against water leaking in.
  3. Insert the side airbag unit identified with an R into the right door and the unit identified with an L into the left door.
  4. Tighten four new, micro-encapsulated M6x16 fastening screws.
  5. Make electrical plug connection.
  6. Tighten M5x10 fastening screw and push on the cover with the inscription Airbag.
  7. Install the door panel, see DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING DOOR .
  8. Connect the battery.
