Removing and installing the rear-axle cross member: Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2004 Porsche Boxster, 2003 Porsche Boxster, 2002 Porsche Boxster, 2001 Porsche Boxster, and 2000 Porsche Boxster. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Install in reverse order. Before installing, visually inspect all parts. Make sure the rear-axle cross member is installed in the correct position (welded seam to the front).
Replace fastening nuts. Use correct tightening torques.
On vehicles with automatic headlight beam adjustment, fit the angle sensor (C) in the correct position on the left side of the vehicle. See Fig 1 . In the correct position means: The angle sensor holder (B) must be properly seated at the lower side on the rear-axle cross member (A) when the screw connection is tightened.

NOTE:
- After installation, the HBA control module must be calibrated with the Porsche System Tester (see EXTERIOR LIGHTS, LAMPS, SWITCHES - DIAGNOSIS ). Then check the adjustment of the main headlights and readjust them if necessary.

Carry out suspension alignment.

NOTE:

Suspension alignment is necessary because the rear-axle wheel alignment values might be out of tolerance after removal and installation of the rear-axle cross member.
