Removing and installing rear spring strut: Installation
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2004 Porsche Boxster, 2003 Porsche Boxster, 2002 Porsche Boxster, 2001 Porsche Boxster, and 2000 Porsche Boxster. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install in reverse order. Before installing, give the parts a visual check.
- Replace brake caliper fastening screws.
- Do not grease screwed connections in Dacromet finish - aluminium colour. Use correct tightening torques.
- Insert spring strut into vehicle. Before tightening the fastening nuts, adjust spring strut mount in accordance with the applied marking (position of the three fastening nuts). See Figure . Tightening torque 37 Nm (8 ftlb.). Then double-check whether the back-up ring is still correctly positioned on the spring strut mount. Reposition it if necessary.
- Fit parking brake cable on the turnbuckle of the parking brake lever, then adjust the hand brake (See ADJUSTING THE PARKING BRAKE
). In order to fit the parking brake cable in the deflector box, remove the rear wall cover behind the seats.
NOTE:
- The right-hand parking brake cable can be fitted without removing the rear wall cover. If the underside panel has already been removed for other assembly work, the left-hand parking brake cable can also be fitted without removal of the rear wall cover.
- Fit the brake caliper.
- When new parts are installed that affect vehicle height, suspension alignment must be carried out.
