Test 7: Child Seat Detection

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Ensure plug is not inserted in child seat detection connector. Access and disconnect control unit connector. See CONTROL UNIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between ground and control unit harness connector terminal No. 23 (Brown/Orange wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Resistance should be about 2 k/ohms.
  2. Insert plug into child seat detection connector. Measure resistance between ground and control unit harness connector terminal No. 23 (Brown/Orange wire). Resistance should be about 260 ohms. If resistances are not as specified, check wiring harness for pinching, chafing or other damage. Repair wiring as necessary. If wiring is okay, replace child seat detection switch.
