Test 6: Passenger"S Seat Belt Buckle Switch

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Ensure passenger"s seat belt is unbuckled. Disconnect passenger"s seat belt buckle 8-pin connector located under passenger"s seat. Measure resistance between 8-pin connector, terminals B7 (Brown/Blue wire) and B8 (Brown wire). Resistance should be about 400 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and 8-pin connector, terminal B7 (Brown/Blue wire). Resistance should be infinite.
  2. Insert seat belt tongue into buckle. Measure resistance between 8-pin connector, terminals B7 (Brown/Blue wire) and B8 (Brown wire). Resistance should be about 100 ohms. If all resistances are as specified, check wiring harness for pinching, chafing or other damage. Repair wiring as necessary. If wiring is okay, replace seat belt buckle switch.
