Removing and installing the fender
NOTE:
- Before removing the fender, the following parts must be removed:
- Refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL .
- Refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL HOUSING LINER - UP TO MODEL YEAR 2001 .
- Refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING FILLER FLAP .
- Refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING MAIN HEADLIGHTS .
- Remove carbon canister.
- For the left fender, Refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING TANK FOR WINDSCREEN WASHER SYSTEM .

| 16 | Fender | 1 | Pull out downwards at the A-pillar and remove the front. | Insert the fender under the lid hinge at the front; fit the sheetmetal screws. Adjust the contour and gap dimensions. |

| On the front door and cover, securely fasten the sheetmetal screws -14, 12- | ||||
| 16a | Strips of styrofoam | 1 | Remove protective part and stick the styrofoam strips along the wheel cutout. | |

| 18 | Retaining strip up to model year 2001 | 1 | Loosen the collar nuts -10- | Fix retaining strip on the fender upward to the stop and fasten with the collar nuts -10--10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)- |

| 19 | Transparent protective film | 1 | Pull off. | Replace. |
| 20 | Electrical plug connection -20- | 1 | Press lug and separate. | Insert the plug until it engages. |
| 21 | Emergency cable | 1 | Disengage. | Engage. |
| 22 | Sheetmetal screw B 4.2 x 18, T 20 | 2 | Unscrew the sheetmetal screws from the sheetmetal bracket. | Screw the sheetmetal screws into the sheetmetal bracket. |
| 23 | Drive motor | 1 | Pull the drive motor towards the rear and remove from below. | Insert the drive motor from underneath and position towards the front. |
