Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Pontiac Torrent and 2009 Chevrolet Equinox. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Add the specified amount of PAG oil to the condenser. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .
  2. Inspect the radiator to condenser seals for the proper position.
  3. Install the condenser to the lower retention clips on the radiator.
  4. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  5. Install the bolts to retain the top of the condenser to the radiator.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the CRFM brackets to the vehicle.
  8. Install the CRFM bracket bolts to the radiator support.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  10. Remove the protective cap from the compressor hose.
  11. Install a new sealing washer to the compressor hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  12. Install the compressor hose to the condenser.
  13. Install compressor hose nut to the condenser.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  15. Install a new seal washer to the liquid line. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  16. Install the liquid line to the condenser.
  17. Install the liquid line nut to the condenser.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  19. Install the CRFM closeout panel.

  21. Install the battery box air duct.
  22. For Pontiac models, install the hood latch assembly. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement (Equinox) or Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement (Torrent) .
  23. Install the front fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (SS) or Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Torrent) or Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Equinox) .
  24. Evacuate and charge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  25. Test the affected A/C joints leaks using J 39400-A  . See Special Tools .
