Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LY7)

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (SS) or Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Torrent) or Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Equinox) .
  3. Remove upper radiator support. Refer to Radiator Replacement .
  4. Remove A/C hose assembly for compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LNJ)  or Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LY7) .
  5. Remove drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
1 A/C Compressor Bolts (Qty: 4)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tip:  Mandatory torque sequence required upon installation.

Tighten:  50 N.m (37 lb ft)

2 A/C Compressor

Procedure

  1. Disconnect all electrical connections.
  2. Lift and support radiator to aid in compressor removal.
  3. Remove A/C compressor through opening between cradle and radiator.
