Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Pontiac Torrent and 2009 Chevrolet Equinox. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If necessary, perform the following steps:
    1. Assemble the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble .
    2. Install the camshaft. Refer to Camshaft Installation - Left Side .
    3. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Installation - Left Side .

  2. Install a NEW cylinder head gasket.

  3. Carefully install the cylinder head with the exhaust manifold to the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation - Left Side .
  4. Install the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold.
  5. Connect the wiring harness electrical connector located at the side of the cylinder head.

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  6. Install the wiring harness ground to the cylinder head and tighten the wiring harness ground bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  7. Install the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
  8. Install the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement .
  9. Install the left bank secondary timing chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement - Left Side .
