Front Cover Oil Seal: Installation

  1. Lubricate new seal with clean engine oil. Insert seal into front cover with lip facing engine. Drive seal into place using Oil Seal Installer (J-34995). Apply engine oil to seal contact area on damper. Apply Sealant (GM 12345739) to keyway of damper. Place damper into position over key on crankshaft.
  2. Push damper onto crankshaft using Damper Installer (J-29113). Install crankshaft pulley. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
