Crankshaft & Main Bearings

  1. If bearing clearance is greater than specification, replace with undersized bearings and recheck bearing clearance using Plastigage. See CRANKSHAFT, MAIN & CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
  2. Tighten the main bearing caps finger tight. Pry the crankshaft rearward and then forward to align the rear main bearing thrust surfaces. Retighten the main bearing caps to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
