System Diagnosis
- Verify complaint using SYSTEM CHECK
. Use FIREBIRD ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT PANEL VOLTAGE & RESISTANCE CHARTS to test instrument panel. See Fig 1
and Fig 2
. The digital cluster must be removed for measurements.NOTE: When removing digital cluster for measurements, inspect the flexible printed circuit foil for cracks or damage. All connectors must make contact with circuits on the foil.
- Measure all voltages to ground with ignition in "RUN" position. Measure all resistances with ignition off and negative battery cable disconnected. Measure all resistances to ground unless a specific terminal is given.
- Check all ground terminals with a self-powered test light before making voltage or resistance measurements. Check that all terminals or pins in connectors are properly seated and not pushed out of connector.
- If correct voltage and resistance readings are found at terminals, and panel function that uses those terminals does not operate, replace digital cluster. The entire cluster must be replaced as an assembly.
