System Check

Place ignition switch in "RUN" position. All displays should illuminate to full intensity for 2 seconds. This includes speedometer, tachometer, fuel, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery voltage.
The bar graphs should run up to maximum reading and back down again, and then display their present readings. Segment bars that are not illuminated fully should be illuminated faintly. All other displays use a segment pointer that runs from bottom to top and back again. The displays should then show present readings.
Press "E/M" (English/metric) button. Observe cluster and press again. The speedometer and odometer readouts should change from English to metric units. Press "TRIP" button. The trip odometer should display. Press "AVG" button. The average speed maintained since last trip reset should be displayed. Press "RES" button. The trip odometer should reset to zero.
Turn on headlights and place on high beam. The Blue high beam indicator should come on. Turn on parking lights and rotate dimmer control knob. Instrument panel, switch illumination, and instrument cluster brightness should change. Operate right and left turn signals. Green turn signal indicator arrows should flash off and on.
NOTE: The following digital display functions may appear while driving.
Maximum speed indicated is 199 MPH (199 km/hr). The trip odometer displays in tenths (1/10) until 4000 miles (6437 kilometers) is reached, and then should reset to zero. Odometer flashes "9999.9" if memory chip is missing or malfunctioning.
When fuel display is low, a beep alarm should sound. The beep alarm should also sound when the engine temperature display reaches 260°F (127°C), oil pressure is low or when the battery voltage is too high or too low.
