Test 13A - No Response Instrument Cluster
NOTE:
Perform TEST VER-2A - VERIFICATION TEST
after all repairs. Each time a connector is disconnected, inspect it to ensure it is in good condition. Always focus on circuit being tested. Dirt, water and corrosion, are most common problems in connectors. Due to manufacturer changes in wire colors, use terminal identification whenever possible.
- Turn key off. Remove and inspect junction block fuse No. 7 and fuse No. 11. If fuse No. 7 is open, perform TEST 13B - NO RESPONSE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . If fuse No. 11 is open, perform TEST 13C - NO RESPONSE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . If neither fuse is open, reinstall both fuses and disconnect instrument cluster connectors.
- Turn ignition on (engine off). Using voltmeter, check voltage between instrument cluster 13-pin Red connector terminal No. 2 (Red/Violet wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red/Violet wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using voltmeter, check voltage at instrument cluster 13-pin Red connector terminal No. 5 (Pink/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Pink/Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Using ohmmeter, check voltage at instrument cluster 13-pin Red connector terminal No. 4 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 10 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire (ground circuit). If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on (engine off). Connect jumper between ground and instrument cluster 13-pin Blue connector terminal No. 8 (terminal No. 4 if CMTC equipped) CCD BUS (+) circuit. Using DRB, perform CCD BUS TEST. If DRB displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, go to next step. If DRB does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, go to step 9).
- Remove jumper. Connect jumper between ground and instrument cluster 13-pin Blue connector terminal No. 7 (terminal No. 3 if CMTC equipped) CCD BUS (-) circuit. Using DRB, perform CCD BUS TEST. If DRB displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, replace instrument cluster. If DRB does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) 22-pin connector. Backprobe a jumper from BCM 22-pin connector terminal No. 11 (White/Dark Blue wire) CCD BUS (-) to ground. Reconnect BCM 22-pin connector. Using DRB, perform CCD BUS TEST. If DRB displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, repair open in White/Dark Blue wire (CCD BUS (-) circuit). If DRB does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, replace Body Control Module (BCM)
- Disconnect BCM 22-pin connector. Backprobe a jumper from BCM 22-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Violet/Brown wire) CCD BUS (+) to ground. Reconnect BCM 22-pin connector. Using DRB, perform CCD BUS TEST. If DRB displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, repair open in Violet/Brown wire (CCD BUS (+) circuit). If DRB does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, replace BCM.
