CLOCKSPRING Centering

CAUTION: If clockspring is not positioned properly in relation to steering column and front wheels, clockspring failure will result.
  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . If not already removed, remove clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. To center clockspring with steering wheel removed, depress and hold 2 plastic auto-locking pins. Rotate clockspring until Yellow mark appears in centering window. When clockspring is properly centered, arrow on rotor will point at the centering window.
  3. Release auto-locking pins to engage locking pins. Before connecting negative battery cable, check system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
