Remote CD Changer Test - CD Changer Inoperative
- The CD changer receivers its power and ground through radio via DIN connector. Verify that radio powers up and functions before proceeding.
- With radio turned ON, check radio display when pushing MODE/EJECT button to select CD mode.
- If display shows - - - -, then insert a CD magazine in changer.
- If display shows NO CD, then insert a CD into magazine.
- If display shows Err xxxx, then check error message table below.
- If radio only switches between AM and FM turning modes, go to next step.
- Check connection of DIN cable to CD changer and radio. Check DIN cable disconnect located at right side of cowl attached to main harness.
- If OK, then check DIN cable at CD changer side.
- Make sure DIN cable is connected to radio and radio is turned ON and operating. Check for battery voltage at Pins 6 and 7 using Pin 8 for ground. See Fig 1 , and DIN CABLE CONNECTOR PIN CALL-OUT .
- If OK, then replace CD changer.
- If not OK, then remove DIN cable from radio changer. Check DIN cable for continuity from connector to connector, using an ohmmeter on each pin.
- If DIN cable OK, then replace radio.
