Lights On Chime Inoperative

NOTE: Perform this test if BCM does NOT sound headlight-on reminder chime when driver's door is open, headlight switch is in HEAD or PARK position and key is removed from ignition switch.
  1. Perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. Go to next step.
  2. Ensure instrument panel dimmer switch is off. Turn ignition on and lower driver's window. Ensure all doors are closed. Observe courtesy light operation while opening and closing driver's door. If courtesy lights come on when door is opened and turn off when door is closed, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not come on when door is opened and turn off when door is closed, go to step  7 .
  3. Ensure instrument panel dimmer switch is off and all doors are closed. Turn ignition off. Observe courtesy lights while removing key from ignition switch. If courtesy lights come on when key is removed from ignition, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not come on when key is removed from ignition, go to step  8 .
  4. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on and monitor PARK-LAMP-OFF input status. While observing scan tool, turn headlight switch to HEAD position and back to off. If scan tool indicates PARK-LAMP-OFF status as OFF in HEAD position, go to step  9 . If scan tool does not indicate PARK-LAMP-OFF status as off in HEAD position, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connector C3. Turn headlight switch to HEAD position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C3 terminal A2 (Light Blue wire). See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If reading is less than 2 volts, go to step  9 . If reading is greater than 2 volts, go to next step.
  6. With DVOM still connected, disconnect in-line connector C201 terminal "T" ONLY (Dark Green wire on headlight switch side, Light Blue wire on BCM side of connector) located between BCM and headlight switch on right side of steering column. Note DVOM reading. If reading is less than 2 volts, go to step  10 . If reading is greater than 2 volts, go to step  11 .
  7. Headlight-on reminder is inoperative due to malfunction between BCM and driver's door lock ajar switch. Repair circuit as necessary. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  8. Headlight-on reminder is inoperative due to malfunction between BCM and ignition switch. Repair circuit as necessary. See KEY-IN-IGNITION CHIME ALWAYS ON  for diagnosis and repair of ignition key input signal. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  9. Replace and reprogram BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  10. Replace headlight switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  11. Repair short to battery voltage between Dark Green wire from headlight switch and Light Blue wire from BCM connector C3 terminal A2. After repairs, go to next step.
  12. Turn ignition off and reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Connect scan tool to DLC and check for BCM DTCs. If BCM DTCs are present, go to appropriate DTC diagnosis and repair procedure in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. If no IPC DTCs are present, system is okay.
