Fasten Seat Belt Chime Always On

  1. Perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. Go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool to DLC. Select BCM DATA DISPLAY INPUTS and monitor the SEAT BELT SWITCH input signal status. Buckle and unbuckle driver's seat belt. If SEAT BELT SWITCH status indicates seat belt is unbuckled when seat belt is physically unbuckled, go to next step. If SEAT BELT SWITCH status does not indicate seat belt is unbuckled when seat belt is physically unbuckled, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Ensure driver's seat belt is unbuckled. Turn ignition on. Observe fasten seat belt indicator and chime operation. If fasten seat belt chime sounds for 4-8 seconds and fasten seat belt indicator is on steady for 13-27 seconds, and then flashes for 50 seconds, go to step  6 . If fasten seat belt chime does not sound for 4-8 seconds and fasten seat belt indicator does not come on, go to step  7 .
  4. Disconnect BCM connector C3. Connect test light between BCM connector C3 terminal B11 (Black/White wire) and battery positive voltage. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light is off, go to next step. If test light is on, go to step  7 .
  5. With test light still connected, disconnect driver's seat belt buckle switch electrical connector. If test light is off, go to step  8 . If test light is on, go to step  9 .
  6. System is okay. See AUDIBLE WARNINGS CIRCUIT CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Recheck operation and go to step  10 .
  7. Replace and reprogram BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. After repairs, go to step  10 .
  8. Replace driver's seat belt buckle assembly. After repairs, go to step  10 .
  9. Repair short to ground in Black/White wire between seat belt buckle switch and BCM. After repairs, go to next step.
  10. Turn ignition off and reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Connect scan tool to DLC and check for BCM DTCs. If BCM DTCs are present, go to appropriate DTC diagnosis and repair procedure in BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. If no BCM DTCs are present, system is okay.
