Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Connect scan tool to DLC. Perform AUDIBLE WARNINGS SYSTEM CHECK  . Go to next step.
  2. Fully insert ignition key into switch. Observe KEY-IN-IGNITION input parameter as key is inserted and removed from ignition. If parameter changes, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . If parameter does not change, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ignition switch connector C1. See Figure . Fully insert key into ignition switch. Connect test light to positive battery terminal. Backprobe ignition switch connector C1 terminal "D" at switch side. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  7 .
  4. Check for faulty circuit between ignition switch connector C1 terminal "D" and BCM connector C2 terminal A1 (Light Green wire). If no problem was found, go to next step. If problem was found, repair circuit as necessary and go to step  11 .
  5. Inspect BCM harness connector C2 terminal A1 (Light Green wire) for corrosion, broken wire or poor connection. If no problem was found, go to next step. If problem was found, repair circuit as necessary and go to step  11 .
  6. Replace and reprogram BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - INTRIGUE article. After repairs, go to step  11 .
  7. Disconnect ignition switch connector C2. See Figure . Use test light to backprobe ignition switch connector C2 terminal "E" at connector side. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  10 .
  8. Inspect ignition switch connectors C1 and C2 for corrosion, broken wires or poor connections. If no problems were found, go to next step. If problem was found, repair connections as necessary and go to step  11 .
  9. Replace ignition switch. See IGNITION SWITCH/LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  11 .
  10. Repair open circuit between ignition switch connector C2 terminal "E" and ground connection G203 (Black wire). See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Go to next step.
  11. Use scan tool to clear DTCs. Retest system. If problem is still present, go back to step  2 .
