Brake Warning Indicator Inoperative With Parking Brake Applied
NOTE:
After repairs, go to BRAKE WARNING SYSTEM CHECK
under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. If BRAKE indicator comes on for 3 seconds and turns off, go to next step. If BRAKE indicator does not come on at all, go to BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR INOPERATIVE DURING BULB CHECK .
- Turn ignition to LOCK position. Disconnect parking brake switch connector. Connect 3-amp fused jumper between parking brake switch connector terminal (Light Blue wire) and ground. Turn ignition on. If BRAKE indicator is on, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator is not on, go to step 5 .
- Replace parking brake switch. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Turn ignition to LOCK position. Connect 3-amp fused jumper to ground and backprobe Daytime Running Lights (DRL) module connector C2 terminal "E" (Light Blue wire). Turn ignition on. If BRAKE indicator is on, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator is not on, go to step 7 .
- Repair poor connection or open in Light Blue wire between parking brake switch and DRL module. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Turn ignition to LOCK position. Connect 3-amp fused jumper to ground and backprobe Daytime Running Lights (DRL) module connector C2 terminal "D" (Orange/Black wire). Turn ignition on. If BRAKE indicator is on, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator is not on, go to step 9 .
- Replace DRL module. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Turn ignition to LOCK position. Connect fused jumper to ground and backprobe Body Control Module (BCM) connector C12 terminal D5 (Orange/Black wire). Turn ignition on. If BRAKE indicator is on, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator is not on, go to step 11 .
- Repair poor connection or open in Orange/Black wire between DRL module and BCM. After repairs, go to step 12 .
- Perform BCM diagnostic system check. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. After repairs, go to next step.
- Turn ignition to LOCK position. Reconnect all disconnected components and connectors. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
