With CRT/DID
- Enter system diagnostics. See ENTERING IPC SELF-DIAGNOSTICS under ON-VEHICLE DIAGNOSTICS. Select IPC INPUT II06, and depress system monitor button. Display should indicate LO. With button released, display should indicate HI. If display indicates LO with system monitor button released, go to next step. If display indicates HI with system monitor button depressed, go to step 3).
- Remove right switch assembly. If display indicates HI, replace right switch assembly. If display indicates LO, check Purple wire for a short to ground. If wire is okay, replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Remove right switch assembly, and connect a fused jumper wire between terminals No. 12 (Purple wire) and No. 7 (Black/White wire) of right switch assembly connector.
- If display indicates HI, go to next step. If display indicates LO, check connections. If connections are okay, replace right switch assembly.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between terminal No. 12 (Purple wire) of right switch assembly connector and ground. If display indicates HI, go to next step. If display indicates LO, check Black/White wire for an open circuit.
- Remove IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect an ohmmeter between IPC connector terminal No. C12 (Purple wire) and right switch assembly connector terminal No. 12 (Purple wire).
- If zero ohms are present, replace IPC if terminal contact is okay. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If high resistance is present, check Purple wire for an open.
