With CRT/DID
- Enter diagnostics. See ENTERING IPC SELF-DIAGNOSTICS under ON-VEHICLE DIAGNOSTICS. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Select IPC INPUT II05, and operate English/metric switch. With switch released, display should indicate HI. With switch depressed, display should indicate LO. If display indicates LO with English/metric switch released, go to next step. If display indicates HI with English/metric switch depressed, go to step 3).
- Remove right switch assembly. If display indicates HI, replace right switch assembly. If display indicates LO, check Light Blue wire for a short to ground. If wire is okay, replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Remove right switch assembly. Connect a fused jumper wire between terminals No. 6 (Light Blue wire) and No. 7 (Black/White wire) of right switch assembly connector.
- If display indicates LO, check right switch assembly connector terminals. If terminals are okay, replace right switch assembly. If display indicates HI, connect fused jumper wire between terminal No. 6 of right switch assembly connector and ground.
- If display indicates LO, repair Black/White wire for an open circuit. If display indicates HI, remove IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect an ohmmeter between IPC connector terminal C13 (Light Blue wire) and right switch assembly connector terminal No. 6 (Light Blue wire).
- If zero ohms are present, check terminal contact. If terminal contact is okay, replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If high resistance is present, check Light Blue wire for an open circuit.
