Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  2. Remove engine room cover. Refer to Removal and Installation (VQ35DD).
  3. Remove air cleaner and air duct assembly. Refer to Exploded View (VQ35DD).
  4. Remove battery. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  5. Remove the ground cable from the cylinder head.
  6. Using a suitable strap, reposition the radiator hose (upper).
  7. Disconnect the harness connector from cooling fan control module and disconnect harness retainer from fan shroud and motor assembly.
  8. Disconnect the harness connector from the TCM.
  9. Disconnect the harness connector from the electric intake valve timing control module (VQ35DD only).
  10. Disconnect the harness connector from the ECM (VQ35DE only).
  11. Remove the TCM, electric intake valve timing control module and electric intake valve timing control module bracket as assembly. Refer to Exploded View (VQ35DD only).
  12. Remove the TCM, ECM, and ECM bracket as an assembly (VQ35DE only).
  13. Remove cooling fan control module (if necessary).
  14. Remove fan shroud and motor assembly.
