Removal and Installation: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Nissan NV3500 HD, 2019 Nissan NV2500 HD, and 2019 Nissan NV1500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
  • Do not damage the spline, companion flange or front oil seal when removing the propeller shaft.
  • Before removing the rear final drive assembly, disconnect the wheel sensor harness from the rear final drive assembly and move it out of the way. Failure to do so may result in wheel sensor wires being damaged and wheel sensor becoming inoperative.
  1. Disconnect the propeller shaft from the rear final drive assembly and support the propeller shaft with suitable wire. Refer to Exploded View 3S1355 (VQ40DE), or Exploded View 3S1415 (VK56VD).
  2. Disconnect the rear final drive air breather hose from the rear final drive assembly.
  3. Disconnect the wheel sensor wire harness from the rear final drive assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  4. Remove the following components from the rear final drive assembly.
  5. Remove the rear stabilizer bar. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  6. Remove brake caliper with torque member and support with suitable wire. Refer to Removal and Installation of Brake Caliper Assembly and Rotor .
  7. Support rear final drive assembly using a suitable jack.
  8. Remove rear shock absorber lower bolts. Refer to Exploded View .
  9. Remove leaf spring U-bolt nuts. Refer to Exploded View .
  10. Remove rear final drive assembly.
    CAUTION: Secure rear final drive assembly to the jack while removing it.
