Diagnosis Procedure

- CHECK DTC PRIORITY
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Connect CONSULT and check for "ENGINE" diagnostic trouble codes.
- Check for DTC P24CA-00 being current or past on the CONSULT screen.
Is applicable DTC detected?
YES
GO TO 2 .
NO
GO TO 4
- CHECK THE PM SENSOR CONTROL MODULE INSTALLATION
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Verify that the particulate matter sensor control module is properly mounted. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 3.
NO
- Relocate and/or secure the after treatment particulate matter sensor control module at the correct mounting location. Refer to Exploded View .
- GO TO 4
- CHECK FOR OBSTRUCTED OR RESTRICTED AIR FLOW TO THE PM SENSOR CONTROL MODULE
Check the after treatment particulate matter sensor control module mounting area for air flow obstructions. Restrictions or blockage of the air flow could cause the temperature sensor module to overheat. Check for the following:
- Debris on or around the temperature sensor module.
- Aftermarket shields, flaps, or brackets mounted too close to the module.
- Exhaust leaks allowing exhaust to overheat the temperature sensor module.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 4
NO
Check the following:
- Remove any debris accumulated near the particulate matter sensor control module
- Relocate any aftermarket accessories that might be restricting air flow
- Repair any causes of excessive heat to the temperature sensor module
- GO TO 4
- ERASE DTC
- Connect all components.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- With CONSULT, erase all DTCs.
- Operate the engine within the conditions for setting DTC.
- Check for current ENGINE diagnostic trouble codes.
Did the P24CA DTC return?
YES
Troubleshooting procedure needs to be repeated. Refer to DTC Description .
NO
Repair complete.
